22. Adorning / Grace

bì · Thunder ☳ over Fire ☲

Form and aesthetics as the completion of what is true within.

The Noble One's Path

Fire at the foot of a mountain, which illuminates but does not judge rashly. Beauty of form (Li) has to go hand in hand with caution — elegance without substance is only appearance.

The Lesson

Take care with the form in which you present your ideas — but never at the cost of substance, or of hasty judgments.

A question to sit with

Does the way I express myself actually convey what I want to say?
